HARBIN: High-level Bahraini sports leadership arrived in China yesterday to mark the commencement of a major international sporting event. Faris Al Kooheji, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), joined Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, BOC Vice-President, at the opening ceremony of the eighth Asian Winter Games.

Shaikh Isa, who also serves as the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Vice-President for the third Asian Youth Games, and Al Kooheji were on hand to represent the Kingdom and support the national delegation during the inauguration.

Bahrain on the Ice

The multi-sport event in Harbin has attracted nearly 1,300 athletes from 34 countries, showcasing the growing popularity of winter sports across the continent.

Bahrain is making its mark on the ice with a dedicated Men’s Ice Hockey team. The team proudly raised the Kingdom's flag during yesterday’s traditional parade of national teams, marching under the watchful eyes of Al Kooheji and Shaikh Isa.
